What could possibly be better than an upgrade or flying with a companion? How about if we give you a voucher for it? 

If you have a Virgin Atlantic Credit Card, Virgin Red Rewards Mastercard® or you’ve reached Gold status, one of these little beauties could be landing in your Flying Club account as a reward for your big achievements.  

Right now, the type of reward voucher you get depends on how you earn it – from companion or upgrade rewards to Clubhouse passes. 

But from 30th October 2024, we’ll be simplifying our upgrade and companion reward vouchers so that there’s just one type – the Flying Club reward voucher – which you can use however you like, on any flight you fancy. 

What’s new?  

  • The new Flying Club reward vouchers can be redeemed on either an upgrade or a companion reward, whichever you prefer. The best bit? You can redeem them on any flight - either a round trip or two one-way flights booked together. 

  • Each voucher has a maximum points value based on your membership tier. If you’re a Red Flying Club member, your voucher will be worth up to 75,000 points, and for Silver and Gold Flying Club members, it’s up to 150,000 points. It’s your status when you book that counts. 

  • If more points are needed for your chosen seat, you can use your existing Virgin Points or buy more to pay the difference. You don’t need to use the maximum amount of points for your booking, but vouchers can only be used once, so the remaining points won’t be retained. 

  • The option for Gold & Silver members to select a Clubhouse pass from our Virgin Atlantic Credit Cards will be removed from 30th October so we can focus on the benefits you’ve told us you love most. 

  • If you already have a voucher, it’ll be changed to a Flying Club reward voucher on 30th October. Find out more here.

Earning Flying Club reward vouchers as a Gold member

As a Gold tier member, you can earn: 

  • One voucher when you renew your Gold status.  

  • Two vouchers when you reach 2,000 Tier Points in your membership year.

To view your vouchers, simply log in, and you'll be able to see them in your account.

Earning Flying Club reward vouchers with your Virgin Atlantic Credit Card

You’ll receive a voucher:

  • When you spend £20,000 per year on the free Virgin Atlantic Reward Credit Card, or

  • When you spend £10,000 per year on the fee-paying Virgin Atlantic Reward+ Credit Card

You can earn one voucher every membership year, which resets on each anniversary of the date your Virgin Atlantic Credit Card was opened. The reward will automatically be added to your Flying Club account within 30 days of earning it. Just log in to your account to see it, and any other vouchers you’ve earned.

Earning Flying Club reward vouchers with your Virgin Red Rewards Mastercard®

Earning a reward:

  • Spend $15,000 in a year to choose one Personal Perk, or $30,000 to choose two, including a Flying Club reward voucher for cabin upgrades or companion seats. 

Once you’ve earned a Personal Perk, you’ll have 12 months from your notification date to make your selection from among the available choices, including Flying Club reward vouchers.

Upgrades with Flying Club reward vouchers

Upgrade your booking (made with either points or pounds) to a reward seat in the next cabin up - Economy to Premium, or Premium to Upper Class*. 

You can choose to upgrade a round trip for one person (well, why not?) or two one-way flights if you’re flying with a companion.  

The standard taxes, fees and charges will apply.  

*Upgrades can’t be applied to Economy Light bookings.

Companion tickets with Flying Club reward vouchers 

Buy a ticket with either points or pounds and use your voucher to bring a companion along with you - either on a round trip, or two one-way flights. 

And again, standard taxes, fees and charges will apply.

You can see all your available vouchers in your Flying Club account.

Please contact our Customer Centre on 0344 412 2414 to redeem your Flying Club reward voucher. 

All Flying Club reward vouchers earned from 30th October will be valid for 24 months, and you need to have flown out on or before the expiry date. 

If the cost is higher than the points value of your reward voucher, you can pay the difference using your Virgin Points. If lower, the voucher will be redeemed in full when you book, and the seat won’t cost you any points.

If you move tiers, the value of your voucher changes to match. It’s your tier status at the time you redeem it that counts, so:    

If you move up a tier, eg. you were Red when you earned the voucher, but you’re redeeming it as a Silver Flying Club member, your voucher value will be up to 150,000 points.  

If you move down a tier, eg. you were Silver when you earned the voucher, but you’re redeeming it as a Red Flying Club member, your voucher value will be up to 75,000 points.

You can use your voucher for a round trip, or two one-way flights. If the latter, these must be booked at the same time and be on the same booking. You can of course use your voucher for a single flight if you wish. 

Vouchers will be redeemed in full at the time of booking. 

To change or cancel your redeemed voucher, contact our Customer Centre. Standard change and cancellation fees apply as per your booking terms and conditions.  

If your status has changed since booking, your new status will apply if the ticket is rebooked. 

If you’re a Silver or Gold Flying Club member, you can gift your vouchers to other Flying Club members. You don’t need to be flying with them. 

The recipient of the gifted voucher just needs to be a Flying Club member (in any tier), and the voucher value depends on the recipient’s tier at the time of redemption.   

To gift a voucher, contact the Customer Centre on 0344 412 2414. 

If you have multiple vouchers on your account, we’ll gift the one with the earliest expiry date.  If you’d like to use another voucher, let our customer team know.   

Only one type of reward (companion / upgrade) can be used per booking. However, multiple Flying Club reward vouchers can be used, up to a maximum of one per person per flight.

The voucher is only redeemable on Virgin Atlantic operated flights booked directly with Virgin Atlantic. It cannot be used on any partner airlines.

You can still use your existing vouchers before 30th October based on the current rules and reward seat availability. 

If you hold or earn a Credit Card or Gold Companion voucher, it’ll be automatically changed to a Flying Club reward voucher on 30th October. Your original expiry date will still apply.  

If you have a Gold upgrade voucher (2,000 Tier Points), this will be replaced with two Flying Club reward vouchers - your original expiry date will still apply. 

There’ll be no change to your existing booking.  

If you need to make changes to it on or after 30th October, the new booking will be made according to the new voucher terms. If your tier has changed in the meantime, the value of the voucher will be based on your new tier status. 

If you have a part-used voucher, you can either use it before 30th October based on the current rules and reward seat inventory. Or you can use it from the 30th October until it expires, for 50% of the value a full Flying Club reward voucher would be worth based on your tier status (Red – up to 37,500 points, Silver or Gold – up to 75,000 points).

You’ll still be able to earn a Clubhouse pass when you reach 1,500 Tier Points as a Gold tier member.  These will be there to view in your account ‘til you’re ready to use them. 

The option for Gold & Silver members to select a Clubhouse pass from our Virgin Atlantic Reward and Reward+ Credit Card will be removed from 30th October. 

If more points are needed for your chosen seat, you can use your existing Virgin Points or buy more to pay the difference. Vouchers can only be used once, so even if you don’t need the maximum points value for the seat you choose, the full value of the voucher will still be redeemed.
