With one of the top nightclub scenes in the world and more headliners than you can shake a feather boa at, Las Vegas has quickly established itself as one of the top destinations for LGBT travellers. Both on and off the Strip, Las Vegas offers everything from pool parties to go-go dancers, with a good dose of celebrity stardust thrown in for good measure. Take a look at our guide to LGBT Vegas and start planning your next trip.
Temptation Sundays
Temptation Sundays is the place to be for sun-soaked partying on the Strip. Expect small bathing suits and big fun at what has been dubbed “the best gay party” by Las Vegas Weekly. Pool party season kicks off in May and runs every Sunday at Luxor from 1-7 pm.
Piranha Nightclub
The Fruit Loop over on Paradise Road is one of the best areas to go in search of LGBT Vegas. Piranha Nightclub is the centre of the fun, with weekly events like Boylesque Wednesdays, viewing parties for RuPaul’s Drag Race and the ever-popular Drag Queen Bingo.
The Phoenix Bar & Lounge
A little farther off Strip is The Phoenix Bar & Lounge, a local’s bar with its own quirky charm, comfy booths, friendly bartenders and live music – if you fancy taking a turn in the spotlight, make sure to get involved in the karaoke. This 24-hour venue also offers food from 4pm-4am, so there’s really no need to leave.
The Matinee Festival
The Matinee Festival is billed as the “biggest gay dance festival of the summer.” While it may be the only gay dance festival of the summer, that doesn’t mean it will be any less fun. Events all over town include pool parties, club nights and even a trip to Cowabunga Bay Water Park.
LGBT Weddings
The marriage capital of the world now includes same sex wedding packages. Now that Nevada is on board with marriage equality, venues like The Strat offer LGBT wedding ceremonies overlooking the Strip.
Las Vegas PRIDE
The pinnacle of LGBT Vegas events, Las Vegas PRIDE offers plenty of parties across the city as well as a glittering parade through downtown. Past grand marshals have included Kathy Griffin and Joan Rivers, so look forward to some star power again this year at the family-friendly event.
