From 19 September 2023, seat assignment will be chargeable in our Economy Cabin.
Flying Club Silver members will be able to select their seat in Economy Light, Classic and Delight from seven days prior to departure, rather than 24 hours prior to departure for non-Flying Club members.
Silver members will also have the choice to pay for seats from the time of booking.

Instead of seat assignment at any time in Economy Light, Flying Club Silver members are now able to choose their seat in advance, when travelling in Economy Light, Classic, and Delight cabins. This will be from seven days before departure.
Of course, members can secure their seat earlier, with lots of options to pay for their preferred seat, or upgrade a seat any time in My Booking – you can continue to do this with your Virgin Points.

All Flying Club Red and non-members will only be able to choose their seats for free in all Economy classes within 24 hours of departure.

What is changing?
Previously as a Silver Flying Club member, you could assign a seat free of charge when booking in Economy Classic or Delight. As of 19 September, 2023 this is now changing to be free of charge within seven days of departure, for all Economy bookings. You can still pay to assign a seat any time any time from the time of booking.
If I don’t assign a seat at the time of booking, do I have to wait until 7 days before departure to assign one for free?
No, members can secure their seat earlier, with lots of options to pay for their preferred seat, or upgrade a seat any time in My Booking – you can continue to do this with your Virgin Points.
I’ve already made a Classic/Delight booking but I haven’t assigned my seats yet. Do I have to pay for these now?
All bookings made up until 18 September will still get free anytime seat assignment, this change is from effect for bookings from 19 September 2023.
